The Japanese edition of Traffic News told about the first flight of the Russian Mi-171A3 helicopter. The publication emphasizes that this is the development of the "masterpiece helicopter" of the Mi-8 series.
"The Mi-171A3 is the newest model of the Mi-8 series masterpiece helicopter, first shown at the MAKS-2021 air show in Moscow, the capital of Russia, in 2021," the publication says.
The first flight of the Mi-171A3 took place on December 31. The flight lasted 15 minutes and passed normally, the Minister of Industry and Trade of Russia Denis Manturov called the helicopter modern and competitive. According to him, the development took place in record time, and the total amount of state support amounted to one billion rubles.
The basic Mi-8 first flew in July 1961. The export modification of the helicopter under the name Mi-17 entered production in 1981. Currently, the Mi-17 and its modifications are used in more than 20 countries around the world.
