In 2022, ice navigation will be one of the most important tasks of the submarines of the Northern Fleet. This was reported in the press service of the SF.
"The crews of nuclear submarines will undergo appropriate theoretical and practical training during the training period. Special attention will be paid to the work under the ice when improving the naval training of the crews of the strategic missile submarine cruisers of the Northern Fleet submarine forces," the fleet headquarters noted.
They recalled that last year a lot of attention was also paid to swimming under the ice. So, during the special complex expedition of the Russian Navy "Umka", the crews of three nuclear submarines of the Northern Fleet worked out simultaneous surfacing in the Arctic ice in the area of the northern islands of the Franz Josef Land archipelago.
And in December, the crew of one of the strategic nuclear submarine missile cruisers of the SF practiced firing a torpedo to create a polynya. In these latitudes, it is used to float a boat in the Arctic ice.
