The press service of the Northern Fleet reported that this year the Arctic group of the SF, created on the basis of the ships of the Kola Flotilla of heterogeneous forces, will ensure the safety of civil navigation and maritime economic activity of Russia along the Northern Sea Route during the next campaign.
"The North Sea men will embark on the traditional eleventh campaign in early August and will work out a number of combat exercises in the Arctic. The ships of the auxiliary fleet and the rescue squadron of the search and rescue Operations department of the Northern Fleet will provide the detachment of warships," the fleet headquarters said. They said that in this campaign, the marines will work out the landing of equipment and personnel on previously unused military sections of the coast of the Arctic islands and the continent.
In addition, the Severomorets will pay considerable attention to working out interaction with the ships of the border control of the FSB of Russia in the western Arctic region and conducting joint exercises.
Separate elements of the campaign will be an operation to assist a ship that has conditionally suffered an accident in the Arctic seas, and rescue people on the water. Also, the crews of warships will work out inspection actions of suspicious vessels.
Earlier, the commander-in-chief of the Russian Navy, Admiral Nikolai Evmenov, said that in 2022, the Russian Navy faces the tasks of intensive training of forces and troops of the Northern, Pacific, Black Sea, Baltic fleets and the Caspian Flotilla to act as part of joint (interspecific) groupings of forces and troops of the Navy to perform tasks in all areas of the World Ocean, including the Arctic. It is planned that the sailors will take part in 950 tactical and command-staff exercises. About 300 crews of ships and submarines will also be trained.
