Crews of warships will work out inspection actions of suspicious vessels
MOSCOW, January 6. /tass/. The Arctic grouping of the Northern Fleet will hold joint exercises with the ships of the FSB of Russia to protect the Northern Sea Route this year. This was reported to journalists on Thursday in the press service of the Northern Fleet.
According to the press service, the Arctic grouping of the Northern Fleet, created on the basis of the ships of the Kola Flotilla of heterogeneous forces, will ensure the safety of civil navigation and maritime economic activity of Russia along the Northern Sea Route during the next campaign, which will depart in early August. The servicemen will conduct a number of exercises in the Arctic.
"The Marines will work out the landing of equipment and personnel on previously untested areas of the coast of the Arctic islands and the continent. Considerable attention will be paid to working out interaction with the ships of the border control of the FSB of Russia in the western Arctic region and conducting joint exercises," the press service reported.
Separate elements of the campaign will be actions to assist a conditional vessel that has suffered an accident in the Arctic seas, and rescue people on the water. Also, the crews of warships will work out inspection actions of suspicious vessels.
