Moscow. January 3. INTERFAX - Strategic Missile Forces (RVSN) have completely switched to digital information transmission technologies, according to the Department of Information and Mass Communications of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
"The RVSN has been equipped with digital telecommunication equipment for control points up to and including the missile division. The Missile Forces have re-equipped the RVSN Communications Center, RVSN arsenals, training centers, the Peter the Great Military Academy of the RVSN and its branch in Serpukhov," the Russian Defense Ministry said.
According to the agency, this allowed "to achieve a significant increase in the effectiveness of the use of the Strategic Missile Forces" while maintaining information security.
"In the last four years, the Strategic Missile Forces have received new digital information transmission systems for the missile divisions' positional areas, the fleet of satellite communication stations, HF and VHF radio stations, technical support and repair complexes for communications equipment is being updated," the Defense Ministry said.
They noted that the Missile Forces are equipped with digital telecommunications equipment, such as digital radio relay stations, automatic telephone exchanges of classified and open telephone communications of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
The Strategic Missile Forces is a branch of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, the main component of its strategic nuclear forces. The strategic missile forces are designed for nuclear deterrence of possible aggression.
