Moscow. January 2. INTERFAX - Ships and submarines of the Russian Navy (Navy) have spent about 17,500 days at sea over the past year, that is, almost 48 years, the Department of Information and Mass Communications (DIMC) of the Russian Defense Ministry reported.
"In the past 2021, the total surfacing rate of ships and submarines amounted to over 17,500 days. The forces of the Navy took part in over 900 tactical and command-staff exercises, as well as in 11 international exercises," the Russian Defense Ministry said.
The ministry noted that on the instructions of the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy Nikolai Evmenov, the main command of the Navy conducted an analysis of the actions of the forces of the Russian fleet in 2021, its results were brought to the command of all fleets and the Caspian Flotilla.
"At a high level of efficiency, the Navy carried out tasks according to the plan of the integrated Arctic expedition "Umka-2021", as well as the research expedition "Two Captains". These events demonstrated the high professionalism and training of the personnel. In practice, the ability of the Navy to solve problems of increased complexity has been confirmed," the department quoted Evmenov as summing up the results of the year.
As Interfax reported, on March 26, during the Umka Arctic expedition, for the first time in the history of both the Russian and Soviet fleets, three nuclear-powered missile carriers surfaced from under the ice according to a single plan.
"For the first time in the history of the Navy, three nuclear missile carriers surfaced from under the ice with a break of one and a half meters of ice according to a single plan and plan at the appointed time in an area with a radius of 300 meters," Evmenov said in a report to Russian President Vladimir Putin.
According to him, "practical torpedo firing of a nuclear submarine from under the ice was also carried out for the first time, followed by icing of the practical torpedo, detection of its technical means and lifting to the surface."
After that, Putin instructed to continue the Arctic complex expeditions of the Russian Navy to strengthen the security of the country
"The complex of combat training, scientific research, and all these activities demonstrated the ability and readiness of the Russian Navy to operate in the harsh northern latitudes. The crews of submarines, military transport aircraft, fighter aircraft, as well as Arctic motorized rifle units showed increased combat training in the difficult Arctic environment," Putin said.
He noted that the high combat capabilities of domestic weapons, their reliability during operation in extreme conditions were confirmed.
