Moscow. January 1st. INTERFAX - The Novorossiysk naval base, after modernization, can now receive more than 100 warships, the press service of the Russian Black Sea Fleet reported on Saturday.
"As part of the implementation of the federal target program, the construction of the western pier has been completed at the base of the ships of the Novorossiysk naval base of the Black Sea Fleet. During the hydraulic engineering works in the military harbor, a system of protective jetties has been fully created: the eastern and western jetties with a total length of 1400 meters and 850 meters," the report says.
"Currently, the Novorossiysk naval base is capable of receiving more than 100 modern warships with a displacement of 1.5 to 30 thousand tons, for which there are 5 berths," the fleet's press service noted.
According to the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation, more than 70% of the infrastructure facilities of the naval base are modern.
"26 buildings and structures of the coastal infrastructure have been built and put into operation, including the improved Afalina and Hephaestus training complexes, a six-storey building of the submarine connection headquarters with a dormitory for personnel accommodation and a canteen for 1000 seats," the press service informs.
The Novorossiysk Naval Base includes formations of ships protecting the water area and submarines, a coastal missile and artillery compound, special-purpose military units and support units.
