Moscow. December, 31st. INTERFAX - The Pacific Fleet of Russia, as well as parts of the combined arms army in Transbaikalia next year will take part in the strategic exercise "Vostok-2022", the Russian military said on Friday.
"One of the main tasks in 2022 is the participation of the Pacific Fleet in the strategic command and staff exercise Vostok-2022, as well as other exercises, including international ones," the press service of the Pacific Fleet (TOF) said in a statement.
It notes that according to the results of combat training, according to the decision of the Commander-in-chief of the Navy, the Pacific Fleet ranks first among the fleets of Russia for the fifth year in a row.
The press service of the Eastern Military District (VVO) reported that the combined arms army, which is stationed in Transbaikalia, is also preparing for the Vostok-2022 exercise.
"In the 2022 academic year, the most important task of the formations and military units of the association is high-quality training and participation in the Vostok-2022 School as part of the troops of the Eastern Military District," the press service of the Air Force quotes the commander of the combined arms army, Major General Andrei Kolesnikov.
In 2018, according to official data, about 300 thousand servicemen - almost a third of the Russian army - were involved in strategic maneuvers "Vostok-2018".
