Several trips to the sea are planned to test all complexes and mechanisms
MOSCOW, December 29. /tass/. The Baltic Shipbuilding plant "Yantar" (part of the United Shipbuilding Corporation) has completed work on the repair and modernization of the patrol ship "Intrepid". This was reported in the press service of the company.
"Upon completion of the sea trials, which will last about 30 days, the Intrepid will be handed over to the Navy and will return to service as part of the Baltic Fleet," the report says.
According to the press service, on December 27, the patrol ship moved to Baltiysk, where it will begin preparations for acceptance tests.
Several trips to the sea with a total duration of about 30 days are planned. It is necessary to test all complexes and mechanisms, in particular, the main power plant and weapons systems.
The delivery team of the plant and the commission of the Baltic Fleet will work on board the "Intrepid".
Long repair
The main repair work was carried out to update the mechanical part of the ship - afterburners were restored and re-installed, weapons and support mechanisms were modernized.
Earlier it was reported that the repair of the "Intrepid" should be completed in 2021. Since 2014, the ship has been under repair at Yantar. The contractual terms of repair of the frigate were postponed twice due to the large additional amount of work revealed during the defect and due to the complexity of repairing afterburners of Ukrainian production. By 2019, the issue with the engines was resolved.
The Intrepid has been part of the Baltic Fleet since 1991.
