Defseca: Bangladesh to buy Russian Mi-28NE instead of Boeing AH-64 Apache
The Bangladesh Air Force has decided to purchase Russian Mi-28NE attack helicopters. They plan to spend $ 478 million on the purchase of eight helicopters, according to the Defseca portal.
Russian helicopters can be bought instead of American Boeing AH-64E Apache. The publication notes that the Bangladesh Air Force negotiated with the United States, but Dhaka was not satisfied with the terms of the deal with the American side.
In early December, the Russian delegation visited Bangladesh. Representatives of Russia held a meeting with the Chief of Staff of the army. Defseca writes that during the visit, the Russian side expressed interest in supplying Mi-28 or Mi-35 attack helicopters to Bangladesh.
The Bangladesh Air Force Headquarters has sent a request for preliminary approval of the transaction to the Ministry of Finance.
Earlier, the Chief of the General Staff of the Indonesian Air Force, Air Chief Marshal Fajar Prasetyo, announced the rejection of plans to purchase Russian Su-35 fighters. Later, the Russian ambassador in Jakarta noted that there were no official reports of the rejection of the Su-35.
In August, the executive director of the Techmash research and production concern announced that the Mi-28N would receive a new missile. The car will be equipped with an unguided S-13B missile.
