Russian energy company Rosseti has received the first batch of Rostec industrial exoskeletons. She will test the devices at work on grounding overhead power lines and when clearing vegetation in glades.
Exoskeletons allow people to carry heavy loads without feeling their weight, or perform manipulations that they themselves cannot do. Therefore, they can be especially useful in industrial production. For example, on Ford assembly lines, upper-body exoskeletons help craftsmen get less tired while they work with objects above their heads.
Rostec - Trusted Platforms Robotics Complexes company created the ProEXO industrial exoskeleton last year. It is made according to a modular scheme and consists of 30 elements, some of which are printed on a 3D printer. The device can be either active or passive. The developers say that it allows you to reduce the load on the musculoskeletal system by half.
Rostec announced on December 28 that the Rosseti energy company had received the first batch of industrial exoskeletons. It will test the devices at the Cable Network and Gatchina Electric Networks branches by the end of the first quarter of next year and decide whether to expand their use. In particular, Rostec exoskeletons will be worn by workers on the grounding of overhead power lines, when clearing vegetation in clearings and transferring heavy materials and tools.
Exoskeletons are being developed not only for workers and craftsmen, but also for the military, disabled people, athletes and men with erectile dysfunction . Some of them, like Guardian XO, are designed for different tasks and look like robotic suits from science fiction.
