Moscow. December 27. INTERFAX-AVN - Corvette "Savvy" conducted an exercise in the Baltic Sea with the combat launch of an anti-aircraft missile from the Redoubt complex, the press service of the Baltic Fleet reported.
"While going to sea, the crew of the corvette "Savvy" completed the task of repelling a missile strike on a complex air target simulating an anti-ship missile of a simulated enemy. The crew of the "Savvy" fired at the target using the Redut sea-based anti-aircraft missile system (SAM)," the press service said.
"The anti-aircraft missile launched from the corvette successfully hit the designated target," the press service stressed.
They noted that the target missile was launched from the small rocket ship "Passat", the shooting was carried out in a difficult jamming environment with the use of electronic countermeasures.
"The Baltic Fleet's naval training ground, where the exercise took place, was temporarily declared dangerous for civilian shipping. More than 10 surface ships and fleet support vessels performed security tasks in the area of missile launches, which ensured a high level of security for the event," the press service said.
According to the fleet headquarters, after completing the firing task, the ship's crew conducted a number of shipboard exercises - on electronic warfare, survivability, anti-sabotage defense, etc.
"Poliment-Redut" is a new sea-based anti-aircraft missile system (JSC "Concern of East Kazakhstan Region "Almaz-Antey"). The complex is installed on Russian frigates and corvettes of a new generation.
