TSAMTO, December 27. In Mishukovo, the main base of hydrographers of the Northern Fleet, on December 24, a solemn flag-raising ceremony was held on a new hydrographic boat of the project 23040G "Leonid Senchura".
The event was attended by the leadership and officers of the hydrographic service of the fleet. The boat is officially accepted into the Northern Fleet.
State tests of the new hydrographic boat took place in the Kola Bay and the Barents Sea. They were successfully completed a month ago. In early December, the acceptance certificate was signed and the vessel was prepared for admission to the fleet.
The boat is named after the outstanding military hydrographer and Arctic explorer, veteran of the Great Patriotic War, Captain 1st rank Leonid Sergeevich Senchura (1919-2008). He was the head of the Northern Hydrographic Expedition and made a great contribution to the study of the Arctic Ocean, including the bottom relief. Under his leadership, the rise of the Lomonosov Ridge was examined in detail, the Gakkel ridge was discovered and studied in detail. For his success in this work, Leonid Sergeevich was awarded the P. Litke Gold Medal and the USSR State Prize.

The displacement of the Leonid Century is about 190 tons, length - 30 m, speed - 12 knots, cruising range - 1600 nautical miles, autonomy - 10 days, crew - 9 people.
The boat is designed to take pictures of the bottom relief at depths up to 2000 m, and it is able to conduct high-precision area shooting at depths up to 400 m. The boat carries out a survey of navigational hazards at depths up to 100 m. The vessel is used for installation and maintenance of all kinds of marine warning floating signs, navigation and hydrographic support of rescue and search operations, as well as for pilotage.
The boat was built by JSC "Nizhny Novgorod Motor Ship Plant" and became the last - the sixth in a series ordered by the Ministry of Defense of Russia. The launch took place on August 31 in the city of Bor, Nizhny Novgorod region. After that, from October 20 to November 5, the boat was towed to the Kola Bay by inland water communications, where it was tested.
The ship's complement of hydrographs of the Northern Fleet is updated regularly: over the past few years, several large hydrographic boats of the 19920 project have been adopted, as well as a small hydrographic vessel "Nikolay Skosyrev". On December 10, a solemn ceremony of raising the flag on a large hydrographic catamaran boat "Grigory Shadrin" took place in Mishukovo, the press service of the Northern Fleet reports.
