The submarine Generalissimo Suvorov will strengthen the Pacific Fleet - the commander-in-chief of the Navy Nikolai Evmenov expressed firm confidence in this at the launch of a new ship from the slipway, which was built at Sevmash according to the project of the Central Design Bureau Rubin and will be armed with the Bulava strategic missile system.
This is the second serial missile carrier, which was laid down and built according to the improved project 09552 "Borey-A". The Prince Oleg in front of him has already been accepted into the Navy and on December 21 raised the St. Andrew's flag - on the same day as the Novosibirsk submarine (the Ash-M project of the Malachite Design Bureau).
Judging by past experience, both ships that have just been transferred will remain in the North for some time, and then they will have to make an inter-fleet crossing. As it was done at the time by the missile carriers of the "princely" series "Alexander Nevsky" and "Vladimir Monomakh", built according to the original project 955 "Borey" and now serving on the eastern borders.
Congratulating the shipbuilders and the crew of the cruiser Generalissimo Suvorov on the completion of an important stage of work, Admiral Evmenov expressed hope that all upcoming tasks will be successfully solved: with the beginning of summer navigation, as soon as the ice situation in the White Sea allows, the ship will be tested, and by the end of the year it will be handed over to the fleet. Minister Sergei Shoigu also spoke about this at the board of the Ministry of Defense on December 21: the admission of the nuclear cruiser Generalissimo Suvorov to the Navy is a priority task.
We should add that in 2021, two more missile carriers were laid on Sevmash - Dmitry Donskoy and Prince Potemkin (continuation of the Borey-A series) - and the multi-purpose Krasnoyarsk was taken out of the boathouse for completion afloat and subsequent tests.
- We worked without holidays and weekends to fulfill the delivery program, - said Mikhail Budnichenko, General director of the shipyard, on this occasion. - Four days ago, the launch of the Prince Oleg and Novosibirsk submarines was given by the President of Russia. And today is another important event: the second production ship of the Borei-A project has reached a new stage - the beginning of a large test cycle. The Generalissimo Suvorov will be checked in all modes at the enterprise's embankment and in the sea...
Before the CEO of Sevmash gave the command "Slipway on the move!", according to the established tradition, a bottle of champagne on the stern rudder of the new ship was smashed by its commander - captain of the first rank Viktor Artemov.
