TASS: the corvette "Agile" to be fully restored after a fire at the shipyard
In 2026, the Nimble corvette can be fully restored after a fire that occurred on December 17 during the construction of the vessel at the Severnaya Shipyard in St. Petersburg. TASS writes about this with reference to a source in the shipbuilding industry.
According to the interlocutor of the agency, "Agile" will be able to fully restore not earlier than in five years. The source stressed that final conclusions about the timing of restoration work can be made only after the conclusion of the commission of the United Shipbuilding Corporation and representatives of the plant.
"One of the main issues that experts are now finding out is the condition of the ship's cable routes after the fire. If they are generally serviceable, then the repair of the corvette with a good schedule is possible within five years. If the tracks are completely subject to replacement, then the ship will actually have to be rebuilt," the agency interlocutor said.
According to him, the production of a new superstructure for the "Agile" at the Sredne-Nevsky Shipyard may take three years. Also, at least a year will pass from receiving the superstructure to the descent, the same amount will be required for completion and subsequent factory and sea trials.
The fire on the "Agile" occurred on December 17 at the shipyard "Severnaya Verf". The fire area reached 800 square meters. The fire was assigned the highest fourth rank of complexity. The cause of the fire could be a violation of fire safety rules when performing work.
