The American media appreciated the power of the Russian nuclear submarine of the fourth generation. We are talking about a new strategic missile submarine "Prince Oleg".
According to The National Interest, the main purpose of the Borei-class submarines, to which the Prince Oleg belongs, is the destruction of enemy cities. Moreover, the submarine will be able to deliver such crushing blows even if other nuclear forces are destroyed. The same task, by the way, is facing submarines armed with ballistic missiles that other countries have.
The publication also mentions the submarine "Prince Vladimir", which became the first improved version of the project 955A of the Borey class.
The article notes that the submarines of the project 955 "Borey" and the upgraded project 955A "Borey-A" are capable of carrying 16 intercontinental ballistic missiles "Bulava".
Earlier it was reported that the Bulava ballistic missile had already been successfully launched from the Prince Oleg missile submarine. As noted in the Russian Defense Ministry, the missile launch was carried out as part of the state tests of the carrier.
The submarine, which was in the waters of the White Sea, launched a missile from an underwater position. At the same time, the target was designated at the Kura training ground in Kamchatka.
