Moscow. December 25. INTERFAX - The Baltic Fleet of Russia conducted an exercise to eliminate helicopters and drones of a simulated enemy with the help of anti-aircraft missile and cannon complexes (ZRPC) "Pantsir-S", the press service of the fleet reported on Saturday.
"The role of the air enemy was performed by the crews of naval aviation helicopters and unmanned aerial vehicles," the report says.
"In order to cover the objects of the fleet's air defense system, the calculations of radar stations and the Pantsir-S missile defense system that took up combat duty discovered and conditionally destroyed a group of air targets flying in close proximity to the conditional air border and not responding to requests from dispatching services," Baltflot said.
According to the military, after the interception of targets and their conditional destruction, the calculations of the "Shells" worked out making a march to change positions and masking new positional areas.
"About 50 servicemen and 10 units of military equipment were involved in the training," Baltflot said.
Pantsir-S is a modern short-range air defense system (developed by the Shipunov Instrument Design Bureau, NPO High-Precision Complexes Holding, Rostec). The complex is in service with the Russian army and is exported.
The Baltic Fleet is an operational and strategic association of the Russian Navy on the Baltic Sea. The main bases are Baltiysk (Kaliningrad region) and Kronstadt (Leningrad region).
In 2016, it was officially reported that the 11th Army Corps was formed as part of the Baltic Fleet in the Kaliningrad Region.
