More than 10 thousand servicemen of the Southern Military District will return to their places of permanent deployment from field exercises that took place at the training grounds of the Crimea, Astrakhan, Volgograd and Rostov regions, as well as the Krasnodar Territory.
"In motorized rifle formations, military units of the branches of the armed forces and special forces, the stages of combat coordination of crews, departments and calculations have passed. More than 10 thousand military personnel as part of the units will make marches to permanent deployment points from the territory of combined-arms ranges," Vadim Astafyev, a spokesman for the Southern Military District, told RG.
According to the report, the classes were held at combined-arms ranges in Astrakhan, Volgograd and Rostov regions, in the Crimea, Stavropol and Krasnodar Territories, the republics of the North Caucasus, as well as at the ranges of Russian military bases in Abkhazia, Armenia and South Ossetia.
"Battalion tactical groups and tactical groups of the branches of the armed forces of all formations and military units of the Southern Military District were trained in the field during the month," the report says.
During the New Year and Christmas holidays in the South of Russia and the North Caucasus, duty units and reinforcement means will be assigned.
"During the first decade of January, air defense units, crews of ships of the Black Sea Fleet and the Caspian Flotilla, electronic warfare units and duty shifts of tactical, army and unmanned aircraft will continue to serve on combat watch," Vadim Astafyev stressed.
