The Americans have finally eliminated the difficulties with electromagnetic hoists for moving ammunition to the flight deck of the aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford. In total, there are 11 such "elevators" on board.
Advanced Weapons Elevator (AWE) electromagnetic lifts are one of the main features of the newest American aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford. Until recently, they had critical technical problems, however, as it became known the other day, all 11 "elevators" are now working.
Problems with the lifts made themselves felt long before the official commissioning of the ship in 2017. And this summer, only seven AWES were fully operational.

The Advanced Weapons Elevator allows a relatively small number of sailors to safely move ammunition at an unprecedented speed, which significantly increases the combat capabilities of the ship.
USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN-78) is the lead aircraft carrier of the same type. The ships are being built to replace aircraft carriers of the Nimitz type. With comparable sizes, Gerald R. Ford has a smaller crew (due to greater automation), so its operation will be cheaper.
