Kosmos-2519, from which another spacecraft had previously separated, burned up in the atmosphere. The satellite had remote sensing equipment, as well as equipment for shooting objects in space.
The descent from the orbit of the Russian satellite, with reference to the Command of the Aerospace Defense of North America, was reported by TASS.
The device was launched on June 23, 2017 with the help of a Soyuz-2.1v launch vehicle. In the same year, the inspector separated from Kosmos-2519. The equipment installed on it made it possible to analyze the technical condition of satellites at a minimum distance. The Inspector burned down in the atmosphere in 2019.
Kosmos-2519 is positioned as a platform on which different payloads could be placed. The satellite received remote sensing equipment, as well as devices that allow shooting space objects.
Recall that in November, Russia destroyed the old Soviet spacecraft Kosmos-1408 during tests of anti-satellite weapons. The rocket was launched from the Plesetsk cosmodrome.
The tests forced the ISS crew to take shelter in their ships. As stated in the Russian Ministry of Defense, the tests did not pose any threat to the orbital stations.
