The Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky submarine conducted firing in the Sea of Japan. Military observer, retired Colonel Viktor Baranets commented on their results on Sputnik radio.
The newest diesel-electric submarine "Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky" conducted firing in the Sea of Japan, the press service of the Pacific Fleet (TOF) reported.
At a distance of one thousand kilometers, a Kalibr cruise missile hit a ground target on the Surkum tactical field in the Khabarovsk Territory.
Before launching the missile, the submarine performed a tactical maneuver of covertly entering the firing area.
On the air of Sputnik radio, the military observer of the Komsomolskaya Pravda newspaper, retired Colonel Viktor Baranets commented on the results of the shooting.
The ability to hit targets in the depths of the continent from a submarine "suggests that this submarine is universal – it is capable of working both on underwater and surface, and on land targets," Viktor Baranets added.
The Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky submarine was transferred to the fleet in November 2019. The submarine is equipped with anti-aircraft complexes Strela-3M, Igla-1, Willow, Kalibr, 3M54K and others. The working depth of the vessel is 240 meters, the maximum is 300.
