Shoigu: the share of modern weapons in Russia's nuclear triad has reached a historical record
The share of modern weapons in Russia's nuclear triad has reached a historical record of 89.1 percent. This was stated by the head of the country's Defense Ministry Sergei Shoigu at the annual board of the military department, Interfax reports.
"The level of modernity in the nuclear triad has been brought to the highest level in the entire history of its existence," the minister said, stressing that it was possible to achieve such results due to "large—scale and purposeful work."
According to Shoigu, simultaneously with the supply of new weapons to the Russian army, a modern infrastructure is being created in the country, which will be used by strategic nuclear forces. So, in 2020 alone, 690 high-tech facilities were built in Russia, the head of the Defense Ministry said.
Earlier in December, the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, Valery Gerasimov, said that currently almost all launchers of the ground-based strategic nuclear forces of Russia - more than 95 percent - are in constant readiness for combat use. According to him, the state of Russia's nuclear triad provides a solution to "deterrence tasks."
