"The fleet continues to develop and replenish with new warships and support vessels. In accordance with the activity plan until 2025, we must accept about 10 combat units into our composition," he told reporters at the board of the Russian Defense Ministry.
According to Osipov, the outgoing year 2021 turned out to be difficult for the Black Sea Fleet, but all the tasks that were set were completed. The Fleet continues to bear the main burden of ensuring the activities of the permanent connection of the Navy in the Mediterranean Sea, the basis of whose forces are precisely the warships and auxiliary vessels of the Black Sea Fleet, he noted.
In general, the crews of the ships conducted about 250 different exercises during the 2021 academic year, during which more than 600 combat exercises were performed, including missile firing with modern high-precision weapons. In preparation for combat service, the crews of ships and boats worked out and successfully passed about 150 course tasks.
The surfacing of the naval forces of the fleet in the outgoing year continued to grow, the ships covered about 450 thousand nautical miles, which is one and a half times more than last year. The increase in the intensity and duration of being at sea is due to the actions of our ships in the Mediterranean, the solution of the tasks of tracking foreign groups in the Black Sea, as well as the high intensity of planned combat training.
"In 2022, the activities of the Black Sea Fleet forces will be aimed at ensuring the security of the Russian Federation in the area of responsibility, as well as participation in strategic and bilateral command and staff exercises. In addition, the crews of the fleet ships will work out joint actions with the naval forces of other states, during six international exercises, as well as one multinational," the admiral said.
