Ships of the Baltic Fleet in 2022 will perform more than 10 long-distance trips

The fleet's efforts will be directed to ensuring Russia's naval interests

MOSCOW, December 21. /tass/. The ships of the Baltic Fleet will perform more than 10 long-distance trips in 2022. This was announced on Tuesday by the commander of the fleet, Vice Admiral Viktor Liina.

"In the new academic year, the Baltic Fleet will face large-scale tasks, including more than 10 long-distance trips of ships to the Mediterranean, Atlantic and Indian Oceans, as well as the participation of surface ships and vessels of the Baltic Fleet in planned combat training events and international maneuvers," he told reporters following the results of the board of the Russian Defense Ministry.

According to him, the efforts of the Baltic Fleet will be directed to ensuring the naval interests of Russia. Baltic sailors will continue to fulfill state tasks to ensure the testing of ships under construction and under repair for the Navy.

According to the results of 2021, the military personnel of the Baltic Fleet fulfilled the combat training plan by 100%. The surfacing of the surface forces of the fleet since the beginning of the year amounted to about 3 thousand days. In total, the ships and support vessels have passed about 200 thousand nautical miles. Shock, trawling and amphibious naval tactical groups have been prepared. Several ships of the Baltic Fleet successfully solve their tasks in the far sea zone.

In 2021, the crews of the fleet ships carried out 430 combat exercises, including rocket, artillery and torpedo firing, mine laying, depth bombing, and mine action exercises. The crews of the ships passed more than 120 course tasks, and ship formations and tactical groups conducted more than 30 tactical exercises of various levels. During the preparation of the headquarters of naval formations, five command and staff exercises and nine tactical exercises were conducted under the leadership of the higher command, as well as two gatherings on the raid with ships of the Baltic and Leningrad naval bases.

By the end of 2021, the total flight time in naval aviation units amounted to more than 6.5 thousand hours, which significantly exceeded last year's figures. As part of the combat training activities, eight tactical flight exercises were conducted with squadrons and three with aviation regiments. All LTU rated "good".
