The strengthening of the general-purpose forces of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation will continue next year, it is planned to receive over a thousand pieces of equipment, including five divisional sets of the S-400 anti-aircraft system, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said on Tuesday.
"Priority tasks of 2022… To supply more than a thousand modern armored and artillery weapons to the Ground Forces, airborne forces and coastal troops of the Navy. To supply the Aerospace Forces and the Navy with 257 new and modernized aircraft, 5 divisional sets of the S-400 Triumph anti-aircraft missile system," the minister listed at an expanded board meeting with the participation of President Vladimir Putin.
The Navy next year also plans to accept "five submarines, 11 surface ships, three combat boats, and put two coastal missile systems in the troops," Shoigu said.
In addition, the Russian Navy will receive in 2022 a new nuclear-powered submarine of the Borei-A project - Generalissimo Suvorov.
