The combat module "Bakhcha" significantly increased the combat capabilities of the BMP-2

The domestic BMP-2 is currently considered one of the most massive infantry fighting vehicles in the world. In addition to the ground forces of the Russian army, it is in service with more than three dozen states.

To improve the tactical and technical characteristics of the "two", various modernization options have been developed. For example, in JSC "Instrument Engineering Design Bureau named after academician A. G. Shipunov"at one time, they offered to install the Melon combat module on them.

If the original version used one 30-mm 2A42 automatic cannon as the main armament, then on the new model, another 100-mm 2A70 was added to the 2A72 gun of the same caliber and the 7.62mm machine gun. In addition to high-explosive shells, it can also serve to launch anti-tank guided missiles capable of hitting the enemy at distances up to 5500 meters.

The gunner-operator has at his disposal a modern sight, which makes it possible to use guns, a machine gun and ATGM at any time of the day, from a place and in motion.

Automatic tracking of targets significantly increases the accuracy of shooting.

The commander's panoramic device allows you, if necessary, to switch the control of the weapons complex to yourself.

"Bakhcha", in addition to destroying ground targets, is also capable of fighting low-flying aircraft and helicopters.

At the same time, as experts note, some increase in the maximum combat mass did not particularly affect the mobility characteristics.
