MOSCOW, Dec 16 - RIA Novosti. The first regiment of the newest Russian intercontinental ballistic missiles "Sarmat" will take up combat duty at the end of 2022 in the Krasnoyarsk Territory, the commander of the Strategic Missile Forces (RVSN) said Sergey Karakaev on the TV channel "Zvezda".
"The task is to put the first regiment in the first division in Uzhur on combat duty by the end of 2022. I believe that this task will be completed," Karakayev said.
According to him, to date, the Uzhur rocket Division of the Krasnoyarsk Territory is working on the preparation of infrastructure for the first regiment of Sarmat missiles, as well as work on preparing for flight tests of Sarmat.
Karakayev recalled that Sarmat is a heavy missile system with a heavy intercontinental liquid-fueled ballistic missile, the weight of one such missile exceeds 200 tons. The complex will replace the Voevoda missiles in service in the Strategic Missile Forces.
