Oleg Glazunov, commander of the Vladimir Missile Army, said that from February next year, the Vologda Division of the Strategic Missile Forces stationed in the Tver Region will begin to be re-equipped with a mobile ground-based Yars missile system. All preparatory work for this has been carried out in the compound.
Recall that the "Yars" are now being adopted in several divisions of the Strategic Missile Forces at once. In some, mobile versions of this complex will be on combat duty. In one, the Kozelsky compound, RS-24 intercontinental missiles are placed in mines.
In a sense, "Yars" can be called the younger brother of the strategic "Poplar". It was developed on its basis, but it turned out to be much more powerful. The deployed combat characteristics of the Yars are kept secret for obvious reasons. However, it is known that this missile surpasses the "poplar" RS-12M2 in terms of throwing weight by more than 20 percent. Despite the fact that Yars carries not one, but 3-4 nuclear units, the designers managed to maintain the flight range of the new strategic missile at more than 10 thousand kilometers.
But even this is not the main thing. Experts say that the breakthrough technological solutions used in its creation guarantee high survivability of ammunition, and in the next 20-30 years, Yars, Topol-M and newer missiles will be able to overcome any missile defense system.
