The Ukrainian army will soon receive a batch of equipment that has been repaired and modernized at the Lviv Armored Plant. According to the ArmyInform news agency, this year's latest batch consists of five T-64 main battle tanks and seven BMP-1s.
In total, in 2021, the company handed over more than fifty different armored vehicles to the troops.
Judging by the published photos, the "sixty-fourth" belong to the so-called cars of the 2017 model. They have improved the fire control system - the gunner-operator received a thermal night sight, which allows the use of guided missile weapons in the dark. The commander's surveillance device is equipped with a third-generation electron-optical converter.
New digital radio stations and satellite navigation systems have been installed. Instead of "Kontakt-1", elements of the Ukrainian dynamic protection "Knife" are placed in the old hinged containers, which theoretically should increase resistance to cumulative ammunition.
At the same time, the 125-mm smoothbore gun and the 700-horsepower engine remained the same. As well as the shells included in the ammunition, the shelf life of which has long expired.
As for the BMP-1, the overhaul here is a necessary measure. The fact is that the Zhytomyr enterprise specializing in light armored vehicles could not cope with orders, and in order to unload it, they decided to transfer some of the cars to Lviv. The units also have new means of navigation, communication and more modern sights. Everything else remained the same.
