An exercise was held at the Golovenki training ground near Moscow, where a battery of S-300V anti-aircraft missile systems of a separate air defense brigade of the Western Military District practiced repelling a massive air attack on strategically important objects of the Ministry of Defense.
The press service of the ZVO told what scenario the exercise was based on. Having received the order, the battery made a 10-kilometer march to the deployment area of the S-300V systems.
"During the march, a sabotage group attacked a convoy of vehicles, as a result of which a battle ensued. Under the cover of a smoke screen, the column was able to get out of the attack and continue its combat mission. Upon arrival at the specified point, the S-300V battery deployed in combat order and began scanning the airspace and detecting aircraft and ballistic missiles of a simulated enemy," the military said.
After detecting electronic targets, the crews worked out actions to launch missiles several hundred kilometers before approaching strategically important objects in Moscow and the Moscow region. Anti-aircraft missile gunners did not make real launches from the S-300V. But otherwise they worked as if they were really trying to carry out an air attack on the capital and the Moscow region. This was the essence of the task assigned to them. The battery coped with it successfully.
Recall that the S-300V air defense system is for the defense of important military facilities, groups of troops and administrative and industrial centers from attacks of all types of aircraft and helicopters, cruise missiles, other aerodynamic means of air attack, aeroballistic and ballistic missiles of operational and tactical purpose.
