World Air Forces 2022: Russia ranks second in the world in the number of combat aircraft
Russia ranks second in the world after the United States in the number of military aircraft and helicopters. The place of Russian military aviation in the world is revealed in the directory World Air Forces 2022, published by the magazine FlightGlobal, reports TASS .
According to the data provided, Russia has 4,173 military aircraft (8 percent of the world's military aviation fleet). The first place is occupied by the United States with 13,246 military aircraft and helicopters (25 percent), the third is China with 3,285 military aircraft (6 percent).
According to World Air Forces 2022, the fourth-generation Su-27 and Su-30 Russian-made fighters (more than a thousand units, or 7 percent of the global fleet of fighters) became the second in the world in terms of numbers, giving way to F-16 Fighting Falcon aircraft (more than two thousand units, or 15 percent) of American production.
In December, the Defense Express agency, referring to the World Air Forces 2022 directory of military aviation published by FlightGlobal, disclosed the number of combat aircraft and helicopters available to Ukraine. In particular, Kiev currently has 43 MiG-29 light fighters, 12 Su-24 front-line bombers, 17 Su-25 attack aircraft and 26 Su-27 heavy fighters (not counting training aircraft).
