Moscow. December 14th. INTERFAX-AVN - The Kronstadt Company announced on Tuesday that it is creating a ground control point for the Hunter heavy drone.

"The Kronstadt company, by order of the Sukhoi company, is creating a ground control point for the Hunter project," the company's press service reported.

They reported that in the future it is planned to provide control from such a command post with any unmanned aerial vehicles of medium and heavy classes.

"The software developed by Kronstadt specialists is already capable of solving this problem. The project has prospects for expanding functionality and increasing automation," the company said.

Hunter is a landmark project for us. This is a serious credit of trust that we have received thanks to active efforts, the results of state joint tests on the Orion project and the successful application of our complexes in real conditions. New tasks will be set before the complex, which implies a deep modernization, under which, in turn, new research and development works will be opened," said Sergey Bogatikov, CEO of Kronstadt JSC, whose words were quoted in the press service.

On Tuesday, the Novosibirsk Aviation Plant named after Chkalov rolled out the first flight sample of this machine, equipped with a flat nozzle for the first time. The second flight copy is at the stage of assembly production.

The Hunter strike unmanned aerial vehicle was developed at the Sukhoi Design Bureau. Its length is 14 meters, wingspan is 19 meters, take-off weight is more than 20 tons. The drone was made according to the "flying wing" scheme using materials that reduce radar visibility.

As expected, the Hunter will join the troops from 2024.

As Interfax reported, the Kronstadt company has developed the Orion drone (as part of the Pacer program). This is the first MALE class drone (Medium Altitude Long Endurance - a class of medium-altitude drones with a long flight duration), fully developed in Russia and built from domestic components. The maximum take-off weight of the device is 1,150 kg. Orion can stay in the air for up to 24 hours, its cruising speed is 200 km / h, the maximum flight altitude is 7,500 meters.
