Flight tests of the Ka-226T light multipurpose helicopter with the Russian VK-650V gas turbine turboshaft engine are planned for 2023. In the same year, the newest engine must be certified.
This was announced by the chief designer of the VK-650V engine "ODK-Klimov" Anastasia Solovyova, writes TASS. This power plant is designed for Ka-226T and Ansat helicopters.
The engine is currently undergoing a stage of engineering tests, confirming the design solutions embedded in it. VK-650V already has a good operating time. Anastasia Solovyova added that next year the engine will be actively tested according to the engineering program, all the characteristics and test parameters will be confirmed for submitting documentation and obtaining a certificate.
The Ka-226T is a light multi-purpose helicopter. It is adapted for flights in the highlands, hence the modernization project and received the working name "Climber". It is planned to launch it in a series in 2022. "RG" has already told about the first flight of the rotorcraft.
