The participants of the Kazakh-Russian intergovernmental commission on the Baikonur complex at a regular meeting in Nur-Sultan discussed the prospects for further joint use of this complex. This was announced on Monday by the press service of the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan.
"The results of the work of the seventh intergovernmental commission on the Baikonur complex were summed up today at a plenary session chaired by Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Roman Sklyar and Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Yuri Borisov. During the talks, the parties discussed topical areas of Kazakh-Russian cooperation concerning the prospects for joint use and further development of the Baikonur complex, as well as improving the living conditions of the city of Baikonur," the message reads.
The members of the commission paid special attention to the joint project for the creation of the Baiterek space rocket complex, a list of measures and the timing of its implementation were determined. "The tasks of rational operation of the property of the complex, modernization of infrastructure, social sphere are also considered. The participants of the meeting separately focused on the importance of improving the environmental safety of the region and the cosmodrome, issues of decommissioning, decommissioning and disposal of unused facilities of the complex," the press service said.
The parties noted the high level of interaction and the availability of the necessary potential for the successful implementation of tasks in the strategic areas of the Baikonur complex.
