TSAMTO, December 13. Engineering and sapper units of the Central Military District (CVO) for the first time received a batch of induction mine detectors IMP-3.
Modern samples of mine detectors have entered service with engineering formations and military units of the Central Military District stationed in Bashkiria, Udmurtia and the Tyumen region, said the head of the engineering troops of the Central Military District, Major General Dmitry Koruts.
"This year, the engineering troops of the military district for the first time received modern induction mine detectors IMP-3. Unlike mine detectors of earlier modifications, the IMP-3 allows the operator to classify detected objects on the spot according to the totality of their electrophysical properties," D. Koruts said. He noted that the arrival of the IMP-3 made it possible to increase the percentage of staffing of engineering units of the military district with modern weapons to 90%.
The device is designed to detect anti-tank and anti-personnel mines with metal parts on the surface and in the depth of the soil (snow), as well as on water and under water, under the road surface and on objects. The high tightness of the design allows the use of the IMP-3 mine detector under water at a depth of up to 30 m, the press service of the Central Military District reports.
