The BrahMos supersonic cruise missile has successfully passed tests from the Su-30MKI aircraft. It was launched from the joint test site in Chandipur off the coast of the Indian state of Odisha. Now the rocket will go into mass production.
According to the Ministry of Defense of India, during the tests, the declared characteristics of the missile were confirmed.
The BrahMos cruise missile is being developed by the Russian-Indian corporation Brahmos Aerospace. The rocket is able to reach a speed of 2.5-2.8 times the speed of sound, destroy enemy objects at a distance of up to 300 kilometers.
Now the issue of creating a hypersonic model is also being considered. It may appear before 2028, its speed will be 6-7 Mach.
