TSAMTO, December 9th. The Russian Helicopters Holding Company of Rostec State Corporation will train pilots to operate the Mi-38 helicopter on a special simulator capable of simulating any weather conditions, vibration and sounds of a running machine.

Crews of Russian and foreign customers will be able to train for a new type of aircraft on the simulator installed at the Kazan plant.

The simulator corresponds to the third category according to ICAO standards (FTD-3), which allows you to retrain pilots on it and periodically conduct simulator training.

"Today, the Kazan Helicopter Plant has installed simulators of all types of helicopters produced by the company – Mi-8, Ansat and now Mi-38. The new equipment not only allows you to simulate any weather, including difficult weather conditions, but is also equipped with a vibroacoustic platform that transmits sounds and vibrations of a working machine. Students will be able to "fly" over Kazan and the mountainous and wooded area of Adler. We expect that representatives of a foreign operator will be among the first to start training," the Rostec aviation cluster reported.

Also, the simulator allows you to train piloting in two versions: the commander on the left and the commander on the right, depending on the needs of the customer.

"The Mi-38 helicopter is consolidating its position in the market, we expect an increase in demand for this machine in the civilian segment. In particular, we are talking about a variant of the Mi-38 with a passenger compartment for 30 seats – this modification was first introduced in 2021. Accordingly, the need for retraining of crews for a new type of aircraft will also grow. The KVZ Aviation Training Center has already prepared a theoretical training program for the Mi-38, and now simulator training services will also be available to customers," said Nikolay Kolesov, General Director of the Russian Helicopters Holding.

In the near future, a package of documents for certification of the simulator will be sent to the Federal Air Transport Agency and a simulator training program will be agreed upon. At the moment, the KVZ Aviation Training Center can train state aviation crews and foreign customers on the new simulator.

The Aviation Training Center of the Kazan Helicopter Plant was established in 1995. Over the more than 20-year history of the center, almost 9,000 specialists have been trained here. The center conducts retraining and advanced training courses for flight and engineering personnel. Teachers constantly improve their skills and undergo internships in leading training centers in Russia, as well as abroad, have personal certificates of aviation manufacturing companies.
