MOSCOW, Dec 9 - RIA Novosti. The aggravation of security problems in the world is a key factor that affects the development of the Russian Armed Forces (AF), said the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation Valery Gerasimov.
"I will briefly focus on the key aspects that determine the activities of the Armed Forces. The main factor influencing its orientation is the aggravation of global and regional security problems," Gerasimov said at a briefing before the military attaches of foreign states on Thursday.
According to the military commander, "first of all, the destructive foreign policy of a number of states, the expansion of terrorism and radical extremism, as well as the ongoing global economic downturn against the background of the spread of coronavirus infection contribute to the increase in tension in the world."
