An Mi-17V5 helicopter belonging to the country's air force crashed in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. There were fourteen people on board, including the Chief of the Defense Staff of the armed forces, General Bipin Rawat and his relatives.

Currently, four people are known to have died. According to preliminary data, the survivors, including the chief of staff, were injured and hospitalized in medical institutions.
A video appeared on social networks, which is supposed to have been made at the crash site. The rotorcraft crashed to the ground in a hilly, forested area. Local residents tried to extinguish the mangled parts of the "seventeenth" engulfed in flames on their own.
Currently, the Air Force Command has launched an investigation to find out all the circumstances of the disaster.
Last month, it was already reported about another incident that happened to the Indian military transport Mi-17. Then, during landing in a mountainous area, the helicopter collapsed on its side. Five people were injured.
Last Tuesday, an army helicopter of the same model was damaged in eastern Iraq due to technical problems. The crew and passengers, a total of nine people, were injured of varying severity, fortunately, no one was killed.
