Russian troops in Tajikistan have been operating far from the most modern tanks for a long time. For example, the old versions of the "seventy-second" served there for a relatively long time without dynamic protection.
The author of these lines has seen such equipment on the border with Afghanistan. She helped our border guards defend the southernmost borders from the invasion of terrorist gangs and drug traffickers.
A few years ago, the 201st base received a batch of T-72B. On Monday, as it became known from the press service of the Central Military District, three dozen of the newest T-72B3M with improved combat characteristics arrived here.
These tanks have a 1,130-horsepower diesel engine, an Aqueduct communication system and a multi-channel Sosna-U sight with a thermal imaging channel. The 125 mm gun has improved ballistics and resource.
This battalion of modernized equipment due to improved maneuverability and armor protection will significantly increase the combat capabilities of the tank unit stationed here.
