Moscow. December 6. INTERFAX - The portfolio of orders for the supply of military equipment and weapons to India exceeds $ 14 billion, said Dmitry Shugaev, head of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation (FSMTC) of Russia.
"India occupies a high percentage in our volume (of supplies - IF). Almost 25% of our total volume. The portfolio of orders today exceeds $14 billion," Shugaev said in an interview with the Rossiya 24 TV channel (VGTRK).
India is one of the main buyers of Russian weapons. The volume of the portfolio of Indian arms orders from Russia is about $ 15 billion, and since 1991, India has ordered weapons worth about $ 70 billion, the Federal Customs Service of the Russian Federation reported.
It was officially reported that in early October 2018, on the sidelines of the Russian-Indian negotiations at the highest level, a contract was signed for the supply of S-400 Triumph air defense systems to India (Almaz-Antey Concern of East Kazakhstan Region). Under the contract with a total value of $5.43 billion. India will receive five regimental sets of S-400. It is expected that all systems will be delivered by the end of 2024.
In November, it was officially reported that Russia had begun supplying India with the first batch of S-400 air defense systems.
Currently, assembly production of Russian T-90S tanks is localized in India, licensed assembly of Su-30MKI fourth-generation fighters is underway, joint work with Russia is underway on the BrahMos-2 hypersonic missile. Joint ventures with the Russian side have been established in India with the participation of Rostec holdings to produce AK-203 Kalashnikov assault rifles and Ka-226T helicopters. It is also planned to organize licensed production of Igla-S portable anti-aircraft missile systems (MANPADS) in India.
It was reported that Russia expects to sign contracts with India soon for the supply of additional batches of MiG-29 and Su-30 fighters, Ka-31 helicopters, as well as the modernization of previously delivered aircraft.
