YEKATERINBURG, Dec 6 - RIA Novosti. Calculations of the Russian S-300 air defense system repelled an air strike by a simulated enemy at an exercise in Tajikistan, the press service of the Central Military District (CVO) reported on Monday.
"Calculations of the S-300PS anti-aircraft missile system of the 201st military base stationed in Tajikistan repelled an air strike by a conditional enemy on Russian military facilities during the exercise," the report says.
The forces on duty worked out complex tasks of searching and capturing air targets at the maximum distance from the radar detection zones, and then at low altitudes, where enemy air objects were used to cover the terrain, performed electronic launches of anti-aircraft guided missiles. In total, 10 conditional launches were carried out against air targets, simulating modern means of air attack from different directions and at different altitudes, the Central Military District clarifies.
In addition, within the framework of the exercise, in which about 100 servicemen were involved, combat crews worked out standards for reloading air defense systems, equipping combat positions. The security and defense units of the 201st military base repelled the attack of conditional sabotage and reconnaissance groups on the combat positions of the division.
The divisional complex of S-300PS anti-aircraft missile systems is on experimental combat duty at the 201st Russian military base. The main tasks of the complex are to cover the objects of the Russian connection from the means of aerospace attack, as well as air defense of the Central Asian region of collective security, the press service notes.
