The British company Engineered Arts has reached impressive heights in the field of robotics, to demonstrate which it has released a video with a new Ameca robot. The android machine differs in two aspects. Firstly, she has very realistic movements, including facial expressions. Secondly, Ameca is a good actress and has already managed to impress observers with her performance.
Strictly speaking, Ameca is not a full-fledged robot – it is a technology demonstrator. Engineered Arts already has quite powerful AI platforms for various purposes, and in 2021 they started creating effective shells for them. In January, the Cleo model was released, which skillfully supports conversation and successfully reinforces words with gestures, and can also sing and move in time with sounds. But the robot's movements were too rough, and the facial expressions left much to be desired. With Ameca, everything is different – its creators have specially compiled a very successful scenario, according to which the robot "comes to life", then, as it were, realizes itself, reacts emotionally to the camera and even invites viewers to start making friends. Ameca cannot be confused with a person, she does not try to disguise herself as people, like a movie Terminator. On the contrary, this car has such an expressive manner of behavior that many commentators found her acting better than Hollywood stars. And Elon Musk, in his tweet, yelled and hurried to add that Tesla is creating its android - no worse.
