Khabarovsk. December 3. INTERFAX-AVN - A military air defense unit (air defense) has been formed in the suburbs of Khabarovsk, the press service of the Eastern Military District (VVO) reported on Friday.
"A new military air defense unit of the Eastern Military District (VVO) has been formed near Khabarovsk. It will be armed with universal short-range anti-aircraft missile and cannon complexes (ZRPC) "Pantsir", - the message says.
It is noted that the formation is being equipped with anti-aircraft complexes. In the near future, the compound will take up experimental combat duty.
The creation of a new military unit provides air defense of military and industrial facilities, military units and formations of the district's troops, the press service notes.
In addition, the military unit will strengthen the air defense group, which provide protection from "massive air attacks using precision weapons and unmanned aerial vehicles at low and extremely low altitudes."
Pantsir-S is a short-range air defense system (developed by Shipunov Instrument Design Bureau, NPO High-Precision Complexes Holding, Rostec).
