The Russian army will receive new vehicles for the Arctic. The military will be given tractors with robotic manipulators for the repair and evacuation of equipment at temperatures below minus 50 degrees. This is reported by the Izvestia newspaper, citing sources in the Russian Defense Ministry.
Repair units in the Arctic will receive heavy REM-GT repair and evacuation vehicles and MTR-G technical reconnaissance vehicles. Sources of the publication stressed that the machines will soon pass state tests. He added that it was decided to create special repair and evacuation units.
The basis of the REM-GT is a two-link tractor DT-30PM. The machine is designed for repair and evacuation of all types of equipment in the Arctic zone. The mass of the REM-GT is 28 tons. The tractor will work together with the MTR-G technical reconnaissance vehicle based on the GAZ-3344-20 Aleut transporter.
Both cars received robotic manipulators that allow you to tow equipment without leaving the cockpit. Also, repair vehicles will receive a system of all-round vision, night vision and navigation. This will allow detecting equipment in all weather conditions.
The REM-GT was additionally equipped with a drone, and the MTR-G carries a set of equipment for radiation and chemical reconnaissance.
Earlier, the newspaper "Krasnaya Zvezda" published new pictures of a two-link armored personnel carrier DT-BTR. The machine for the Arctic received a combat module. The DT-APC is designed for transportation and fire support of infantry units.
