The upgraded anti-aircraft missile and cannon complex (ZRPC) "Pantsir-S1M" will be able to shoot down drones before they launch weapons of destruction. Viktor Murakhovsky, editor-in-chief of the Arsenal of the Fatherland magazine, called the advantages of the Russian complex to TASS .
According to him, the Pantsir-S1M has an increased range of destruction, which allows you to shoot down drones before the attack begins. "Drones have a low effective scattering surface, their detection range is often less than the range of their weapons. The range of the "Shell" has been increased and a fairly confident identification of drones is provided in the affected area," he said.
The expert added that drones remain an affordable product, so it is important to reduce the cost of anti-aircraft missiles. According to him, a small-sized rocket has already been created for the Tor complex.
Earlier, the industrial director of the arms cluster of the Rostec State Corporation, Bekhan Ozdoev, said that the Pantsir-S1M will be able to hit all types of unmanned aerial vehicles. Rostec also noted that the upgraded ZRPC can become the basis of tactical air defense.
In October, Izvestia sources in the Russian Defense Ministry reported that the Pantsir-SM and S-500 complexes would be combined into a single circuit. The ZRPC will provide protection for the S-500 from drone strikes and enemy cruise missiles.
