TSAMTO, December 1. The anti-aircraft missile regiment of the 4th Army of the Air Force and Air Defense of the Southern Federal District received a modern S-350 Vityaz air defense system.
Combat crews of the complexes have started receiving equipment on the territory of the 4th State Central Interspecific training Ground of the Russian Ministry of Defense "Kapustin Yar".
In the near future, the anti-aircraft gunners of the Southern Military District will conduct docking missile launches, after which they will march to the combat duty area.
"The newest S-350 Vityaz air defense system is a reliable air defense system that makes it possible to significantly increase the effectiveness of repelling enemy air strikes on the most important protected objects of the Southern Military District," said Army General Alexander Dvornikov, commander of the Southern Military District.
The Vityaz air defense system is a representative of a new generation of Russian air defense systems. The new complex works in close cooperation with the S-300V4, S-400 and S-500 long-range systems designed to destroy long-range radar detection aircraft, as well as strategic and tactical aviation at a great distance. In turn, the S-350 is a more flexible system that has a large number of missiles, the targets for which will also be cruise missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles in the middle and near zone over the entire altitude range, the press service of the Southern Military District reports.
