Yekaterinburg. December 1. INTERFAX - The first full-time unit in the Russian Armed Forces equipped with Terminator tank support vehicles (BMPT) has been formed in the Central Military District (CVO), the commander of the CVO troops Alexander Lapin told reporters.
"In accordance with the decision of the Minister of Defense and the instruction of the Chief of the General Staff, the first full-time BMPT company of nine combat vehicles in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation has been introduced into the staff of one of the tank regiments of the tank division of the military district," Lapin said.
He also noted that in June 2022, the equipment will be involved in large-scale exercises, where the possibilities of using the BMPT battalion will be explored.
"I am deeply convinced that this equipment will successfully perform combat missions in combined arms combat and in accordance with modern requirements as the most effective fire means not only to support tanks, but also to solve a wide range of tasks in the mountains and settlements," Lapin added.
Earlier, the commander of the Central Military District reported that nine Terminator BMPT will be put on staff in one of the tank regiments of the 90th Division.
"Terminator" is a multi-purpose highly protected combat tracked fire support vehicle with powerful weapons, modern fire control devices and high maneuverability. It is capable of hitting lightly armored targets, tanks and infantry fighting vehicles, together with military air defense to fight helicopters and low-flying low-speed enemy aircraft.
On December 1, 2020, the press service of Uralvagonzavod Corporation (UVZ, Rostec) informed Interfax that the first batch of Terminator BMPT entered the Russian Armed Forces - the 90th Tank Division of the Central Military District.
"Uralvagonzavod tank support combat vehicles were delivered to the 90th Guards Tank Vitebsk-Novgorod Double Red Banner Division of the Central Military District. This is the first delivery of BMPT to the Russian Armed Forces as part of the execution of the state defense order," the UVZ said in a statement.
"According to its combat effectiveness, one BMPT will replace 2 infantry fighting vehicles and a motorized rifle platoon," the concern said at the time. According to him, the Terminator has a diesel multi-fuel supercharged V-92S2 engine with a capacity of 1000 hp produced by LLC CHTZ-URALTRAK (UVZ).
The 90th Tank Division was formed in 2016. Its units are stationed in the Chelyabinsk and Sverdlovsk regions. The main striking power of the division is ten tank battalions, in total - more than 300 tanks.
The BMPT was adopted by the Ground Forces of the Russian Armed Forces in 2018.
Earlier, Uralvagonzavod transferred a batch of Terminator BMPT - about ten cars - to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation under a state contract to participate in the Victory Parade in Moscow.
The Terminator for the Russian army was created on the nodes and aggregates of the T-90A main tank.
It was reported that the Terminator was used in a military operation in Syria.
