Moscow. December 1st. INTERFAX - The formation of a new airborne assault regiment in Crimea will be completed in December, the Russian military department reported.
"In December of this year, the formation of the third airborne assault regiment of the Novorossiysk Guards Airborne Assault Mountain Unit will be completed," the Ministry of Defense said in a statement issued on Wednesday.
In addition, next year the Airborne Troops, in particular, will have to re-equip several airborne assault and artillery units with modern equipment, equip training facilities at the new Starokrymsky training ground in the Republic of Crimea, the agency informs.
According to him, in 2022, "about 100 training events for management bodies have been planned, including command and staff exercises with divisions, brigades and regiments of all formations of Airborne troops."
In mid-November, the Russian Defense Ministry, following the results of an expanded meeting of the Military Council of the Airborne Forces, announced that by the beginning of December this year, the re-formation of the Kamyshinsky separate amphibious assault unit into an amphibious assault regiment, which will become part of the Novorossiysk amphibious assault mountain unit, will be completed.
In March, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said that by the end of the year it is planned to reorganize the 56th Airborne Assault Brigade (Kamyshin, Volgograd region) into the 56th airborne assault regiment with a permanent base in Feodosia (Crimea).
In October, the Ministry of Defense reported that the commander of the Airborne Forces, Andrei Serdyukov, checked the construction of facilities for a new regiment in Feodosia.
On November 18, the Russian military department informed that the facilities of the first stage of the location of the new airborne assault regiment in the Crimea will be completed by the end of 2021.
"According to the developers, work on the construction sites is being carried out without interruptions, which will allow the construction of the first stage facilities to be completed by the end of this year," the military department said in a statement.
The objects of the first stage include the regimental headquarters, two soldiers' dormitories (for 300 people each), a canteen for 750 seats, a checkpoint of the regiment, as well as the first six tent-mobile shelters for 40 cars each and a control and technical point in the park of the military unit, the Defense Ministry said.
