New long-range ammunition will ensure the security of the Arctic and Crimea.
Ultra-long-range anti-ship stealth missiles will cover the Arctic and Crimea.
The coastal brigades of the Northern and Black Sea Fleets will be the first to receive Bal complexes armed with missiles with an increased flight range. These are some of the most effective anti-ship systems in the world. Their main caliber is missiles of the X-35 family, the blows of which are almost impossible to repel. Previously, the firing range of the X-35 did not exceed 200 km.
The new modification of the missile allows you to hit targets at a distance of several hundred kilometers. Thanks to the updated ammunition, the possibilities of "Balls" will radically increase. Coastal complexes will be able to effectively control most of the Black and Barents Seas, where visits by NATO ships have become more frequent recently, experts say.
As sources in the military department told Izvestia, the coastal missile brigade stationed in the Crimea will be the first to receive the upgraded Bal complexes with X-35 missiles of increased flight range on the Black Sea.
The novelties will also enter service with one of the formations of the Northern Fleet. At the same time, a coastal missile system with new ammunition will be able to hit not only ships, but also ground targets: the accuracy of strikes on such objects is provided by a new guidance system. The missiles are almost invisible to the radar of a likely enemy, as they fly at extremely low altitudes.
Izvestia notes that they can work in conditions of active electronic countermeasures.
